This is a forum that will allow me to ask questions and reflect on students, parents, community, and my own thoughts. The goal of this conversation is to hopefully improve instruction, assessment, and school climate through reflection.

Once apon a time I left my backbone at school. I went back to to get it but the school was locked. Then Mr.Oldam came and saved me and my backbone. He let me into the school and found it on a shelf. I am glad that I'm a vertebrate.

One time I was taking a walk with my cat. She ran back to the house and Breanna’s pet turtle stole my backbone. I slouched over and patted the turtle. I tried to run but I was flopping all over. I sat up and yelled “Help!”. A man named captain Bob came over and threw me onto a roof. The turtle was there and I cried “you are so mean!” I then crept toward him and received my backbone. It wasn't fun being an invertebrate.

I was bit by a giant mealworm in Chicago. I had no backbone! I climbed a building. I couldn’t stand and only ate oats. I was very slow and liked to go to limbo contests. Everybody called me millipede man. I won every trophy. I missed being able to do what a normal person could do, such as standing up straight. I missed doing the Macarena but, "oh well".

If I didn't have a spine, I would go to the dance contest with all my slug invertebrates. Not have a spine would help me to dance very well .I would dance till the sun came up. Then I would crawl under a rock and sleep. When I woke up, I would go to the dance contest that night. I could do the worm with no trouble at all. Just my luck, a worm showed up and won.

One day an otter, turtle, cat, and shark came up to me and ripped my backbone out. I squirmed to the market and got a six pack of erasers, and laughed like an evil genius. I was laughing because they didn’t buy… any gummi worms. Breanna walked to her house to find the otter, cat, shark, and turtle waiting for her. They stole the gummi worms and ran off. Breanna chsed after them and Alan laughed at her… She slithered faster and faster… and hit a wall. It didn’t hurt because Breanna had no backbone. Then the turtle returned Breanna's backbone. THE END!!!!

One day I was touring a worm museum… I looked at a familiar worm and it instantly bite me! It did not hurt. Although I did lose my back bone. I had a party to go to and there was a limbo contest. I figured, what’s the problem and eventually could not even sit up . I couldn’t walk either and had to crawl or slither. I slithered into a field and fell into a poisonous snake hole but they didn’t seem to mind because I slithered like them. It was cool and I wished that I could stay there but I was too large.

If I had to last one whole day in school without a spine I would go insane. I would scream for the whole day, I would try to run but wouldn’t be able to because I didn’t have a spine. All of a sudden, something popped into my mind. Fluber I thought, but it was a scary monster or was it? Anyway back to my story about not having a backbone. I scared my mom my dad and my brother and sister because of the way I looked. It’s pretty hard being an invertebrate.

Dodgeball Minus a Backbone

Today was dodgeball, but when I woke up this morning I didn’t have a backbone. It’s hard to dodge, but I can hold people down because I’m a lump. It really hurts when I get hit. But then it got easy to not get hit. I was champion of the game! Then my friend Tom asked me if he could use me for dodgeball practice. I told him no, telling him that my internal organs would still get crushed.

The alarm wrings, I jump out of bed and fall on the floor. I tried to stand up but I couldn’t. My mom had to carry me around all day. Eating was really hard. I could barely open my mouth. Worst of all, today I had to give a report and had to go home, because I couldn’t stand up strait. It was pretty imbarresing. I was at home minding my own business when my mom and dad tripped over me because I was laying on the floor. It was hard to stand without a backbone. Not having a backbone would be a hard and imbaresing life.

Andrew was trying to play football. When he got the ball, he suddently fell to the ground screaming like a high pitched ballerina. He realized that he didn’t have a backbone. Andrew tried to stand up and do ballet but he couldn’t because he was playing football. A man was trying to get the ball and Andrew began screaming. People put ear muffs on it was so loud. Then he stopped and all the guys were starring at him laughing. Then Andrew rolled home and put on his ballet suit, but he couldn’t put it on because he had no backbone.
